Invitation to Warsaw

It is our great pleasure to invite you to Warsaw, the capital city of Poland, for the 2005 IAML Annual Conference. Warsaw is an unusual city situated in the centre of Europe, at the intersection of tracks connecting the West with the East, and the North with the South of the Old Continent. It fascinates visitors with its rich history and exceptional atmosphere. The city has adopted changes brought by new eras and at the same time preserved its tradition. Historic palaces, churches and other buildings which suffered heavy war damage, have been meticulously reconstructed and today stand alongside fine examples of modern architecture. The surprising and dynamic growth of the city manifests itself in the conspicuous changeability of its image.

The IAML Annual Conference will take place in Warsaw for the second time. The first conference was held in 1966. Now, after almost 40 years, we have a great opportunity to host you again. We offer you a rich conference programme, concerts of Polish music and a variety of social events as well as postconference tours which, we hope, will become an unforgettable experience.

The world famous Polish composer
Wojciech Kilar has accepted our invitation to be the Patron of 2005 IAML Conference The Polish National Branch of IAML, together with the National Library, is looking forward to seeing you in Warsaw.

    Outreach donations

We would like to enable as many people as possible to attend the conference. Unfortunately, there are countries where music librarians are unable to obtain funding from the usual sources, and the IAML Outreach Fund on its own cannot meet the demand. These colleagues always make a great contribution to the conference, so you are invited to make a donation to help them attend. Donors are acknowledged in the official conference programme. If you are able to make a donation, however small, please fill in the box on the booking form. Thank you in advance.

If you think you may qualify for support from the Outreach Fund, please contact the organisers for more information.
