Getting to Warsaw
By plane
There are direct flights between Warsaw Chopin Airport and many cities around the world. Low cost
airlines also offer flights to Warsaw.
It is advisable to hire an officially recognised taxi
with displayed phone numbers such as 9191, 9624, 9644
etc. "MPT 9191" is, for example, the official
airport taxi operator. Taking a taxi from the airport to
the city centre will cost approximately 35-45 PLN
(journey time - 20 minutes).
By train
Warsaw has fast Intercity train connections with Berlin,
Vienna, Budapest and Prague. There are also through
trains from Warsaw to Cologne, Vilnius, Moscow, Kiev and
St Petersburg. The trains stop at the Central Warsaw
railway Station (for international and intercity
connections) located in the heart of the city centre (Al.
Jerozolimskie 54).
By coach
International coach lines (i.e. Eurolines and
others) connect Warsaw with many European cities. The
largest coach station, both for domestic and
international destinations, is the Western Warsaw Coach
Station (Dworzec PKS Warszawa Zachodnia, Al.
Jerozolimskie 114).
Transportation
Local transportation (buses, trams, and just one line of the
underground) is operated by the ZTM company. The ticket
price is 2,40 PLN during the day.
Car rental services
There are several car rental companies operating in
Poland. Rental services can be arranged by most major
hotels and travel agencies.
Climate
Poland has a moderate climate. July and August are the
warmest months, with average temperatures about 22°C but
sometimes reaching 30°C. However, some rain is also
possible.
